The GEM avocado is our most treasured of avocado varieties grown here at Rancho Resplandor.
The GEM avocado has superior eating characteristics over every other avocado variety. It is creamier, more buttery and has a deeper, richer umami-like flavor. The shelf life of the GEM avocado can be twice as long as your typical avocado. With beautiful gold flecks along the surface, its skin is easier to work with and can be peeled very similarly to a banana. Most notably, the GEM is larger in size compared to a standard Hass avocado, often providing twice as many servings. All of its attributes augment its versatility in any meal or snack, taking your creations to the next level - it’s really just that special.
Though the variety is still young in reputation, our GEM trees have now been with us for the better part of a decade producing magnificent mature fruit. GEMs only make up 10% of our total production, further defining them as rare gems.
